Morrisville State College to host Mustang Weekend

MORRISVILLE, NY鈥擱eunions, a 5k run and a carnival are some of the featured events during Mustang Weekend at Morrisville State College Sept. 25-27.

Activities begin Friday night, Sept. 25 with a 50-year reunion dinner for the class of 1965 and a men鈥檚 alumni lacrosse game at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday morning starts off with an alumni breakfast, followed by the Madison Hall 5k run at 9 a.m., an open house at the Bicknell Hall wildlife museum, and a plant sale in the Spader Horticulture Complex. Other activities that day include tours of the aquaculture center, an antique tractor show, a campus/community picnic with President David Rogers, and carnival, and fireworks.

Saturday highlights also include a cruise-in, from noon-4 p.m., at the automotive technology building and the Morrisville Mustangs take on Buffalo State during a homecoming football game at 1 p.m. on Drake Field. 

Included in the weekend roster are both men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 alumni lacrosse games and an environmental expo. The event coincides with the college鈥檚 open house on Saturday. 

The weekend events are open to students, family members, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the local community.

Morrisville State鈥檚 curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs. 

In addition to being named to the 2014 President鈥檚 Higher Community Education Service Honor Roll, the college was recognized by U.S. News and World Report as an institution in the top tier of the Best Regional Colleges list and ranked second among regional colleges nationwide for outperforming its anticipated graduation rate.
