MORRISVILLE, NY鈥擬orrisville State Athletic Director Greg Carroll announced today that Erin Skaradek has been named head coach for women鈥檚 basketball. She will officially begin her duties on July 1.

For the past seven seasons, Skaradek has been on the bench of the Oswego State women鈥檚 basketball team as assistant coach where she has helped guide the Lakers to the SUNYAC playoff for each of the past five seasons. In 2013, the Oswego squad rose to a high ranking of fourth place in the NCAA Division III East Regional rankings. At one point during that same season, Oswego was ranked number one in the NCAA Division III in scoring defense. That campaign ended with the Lakers holding an overall record of 18-9.

鈥淚 am honored and incredibly excited to continue my basketball coaching career at Morrisville State. There is so much to offer both athletically and academically at Morrisville,鈥 Skaradek said. 鈥淚 have an opportunity to work with a great group of young women who are ready to continue their success on the court and in the classroom."

Morrisville State Athletic Director Greg Carroll said the search committee was extremely pleased with all the attributes Skaradek brings to the athletic department. 鈥淲e are very excited to have been able to secure a coach with the experience Erin brings to our program,鈥 Carroll commented. 鈥淭he opportunity to insert that kind of experience into our program, along with the values for sportsmanship and positive coaching Erin has developed through her years puts Morrisville State in a great position to maintain a position as a top contender in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.鈥

Skaradek replaces Steve Kaneshiki, who in his three years at Morrisville State, took the program to the NEAC conference championship final earlier this year. 鈥淚 want to thank Steve for the great work he did at Morrisville State College,鈥 Carroll said. 鈥淗e鈥檚 been an integral part of our program in the short time he was with us and I鈥檓 sure the kind of success he enjoyed at Morrisville will follow him to his next stop.鈥

In addition to her basketball duties at Oswego State, Skaradek has been the head women鈥檚 tennis coach since 2008 and doubled as the head coach of men鈥檚 tennis in 2009-10. Outside of her athletic department responsibilities, Skaradeck was also involved the Oswego State鈥檚 new student orientation program as an assistant coordinator of that program.

Prior to accepting her duties at Oswego, she spent three seasons at Elmira College as the assistant women鈥檚 junior varsity basketball coach. In addition to her coaching duties at Elmira, she was also the assistant to the sports information director.

A graduate of Elmira with bachelor鈥檚 degrees in childhood education and anthropology, she was a member of the college鈥檚 2006-07 Empire Eight Conference Regular Season Championship team, as well as the 2006 and 2007 squad that claimed second place.

Morrisville State鈥檚 curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.

In addition to being named to the 2014 President鈥檚 Higher Community Education Service Honor Roll, the college was recognized by U.S. News and World Report as an institution in the top tier of the Best Regional Colleges list and ranked second among regional colleges nationwide for outperforming its anticipated graduation rate.
