MORRISVILLE, NY鈥擠r. David E. Rogers, of Nelson, will become the eighth president of Morrisville State College.
Dr. Rogers was appointed today by The State University of New York Board of Trustees. His appointment is effective on or about June 1, 2015.

As president of Morrisville State College, Dr. Rogers will oversee programs, faculty and staff at the Morrisville and Norwich campuses.
鈥淭he years ahead, I鈥檓 confident, will be ones of growth and expansion for the college,鈥 Dr. Rogers said during his remarks to the SUNY Board of Trustees.
鈥淭he college was established 100 years ago with a specialized mission, and even though our programs and outreach have expanded dramatically, we鈥檝e never varied far from our mission of experiential learning,鈥 he said.
鈥淭here is no greater mission, across the SUNY system, than working with partners in our regions to prepare our graduates for their roles as leaders in our dynamic New York State economy. I am honored to assume the role as president to lead this vibrant institution forward,鈥 he added.
Dr. Rogers is the current provost, and chief information officer at Morrisville State College. During his tenure at MSC, he has worn many hats including dean of the college鈥檚 School of Business, from 1999 to 2010, and interim dean of the Norwich Campus and the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Prior to Morrisville, Rogers was the director of Institutional Research and Planning at Onondaga Community College. He has held faculty positions at Ithaca College, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Le Moyne College.
Instrumental in the college鈥檚 strategic planning process, Dr. Rogers also helped secure SUNY 2020 and High Needs Grants in excess of $6 million. Additionally, he has served on numerous campus committees and community and college boards.
Dr. Rogers earned his Ph.D. in labor economics, collective bargaining, and econometrics from the SUNY College of Industrial Labor Relations at Cornell University. He also holds a master鈥檚 degree from Cornell University and a bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. William Murabito has been leading the college as interim president since January 2013. The college has been without a permanent president since Dr. Raymond W. Cross, who served as president for 13 years, left in November of 2011 to become chancellor of University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin extension. Cross is now president of the University of Wisconsin System.
Morrisville State鈥檚 curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.
In addition to being named to the 2014 President鈥檚 Higher Community Education Service Honor Roll, the college was recognized by U.S. News and World Report as an institution in the top tier of the Best Regional Colleges list and ranked second among regional colleges nationwide for outperforming its anticipated graduation rate.
