Weeks before the start of the fall semester, Zoe Hayes is already settling into college life at ������Ƶ. The 18-year-old Utica resident is one of many incoming students who participated in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Summer Academy, designed to help students transition to college by introducing them to campus life, academic expectations and the many support services available before classes begin.

Thanks to the support of the Galbreath Family Professional Development Fund, members of the ������Ƶ Dairy Judging Team had the opportunity to represent the college on an unforgettable journey through Scotland, Ireland and England, where they competed internationally and gained firsthand insight into agriculture, history and culture.

When most students begin planning a research project, they start with books and online sources. For 16-year-old Evan Buhain, the search led more than three hours north to ������Ƶ. Driven by a fascination with soil health, the Millwood, New York, high school junior spent several days this summer in the laboratory of Jennifer Gilbert Jenkins, associate professor of agricultural science, turning an idea into a hands-on scientific study.

As part of Madison County’s Open Farm Day, held Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26, ������Ƶ’s Arnold R. Fisher Dairy Complex will be open to visitors on Saturday, July 25, only, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex is among the many farms throughout Madison County participating in the annual event, which gives visitors an opportunity to experience working farms, meet local farmers, enjoy tours and demonstrations, animals and sample products.  

������Ƶ faculty and staff members were honored with Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence by the State University of New York and SUNY Chancellor John B. Students wheeled suitcases, carried bedding and moved boxes into Cayuga Hall today as families said their goodbyes and a team of energetic peer mentors welcomed ������Ƶ’s newest Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students to campus.

By early morning, before much of the ������Ƶ campus has stirred, the organic farm on Eaton Street in Morrisville is alive with activity. Students and interns move between high tunnels and garden beds, harvesting flowers, tending crops and preparing for another busy day.

Thank you to everyone (students, faculty, staff, Cabinet members and other leaders) who generously dedicated your time and insights throughout the interview process as part of our representational search model. Your engagement, thoughtful feedback and commitment to this important effort were deeply appreciated and played a meaningful role in helping to shape the search process. You represented ������Ƶ well, and your feedback was invaluable to the Search Committee.

������Ƶ welcomed hundreds of high school juniors for this year’s American Legion Boys State program, which runs through July 2.   Held annually by the American Legion, Boys State is a premier leadership and citizenship program that gives students a hands-on look at government and public service.

Participants in ������Ƶ’s second electric vehicle (EV) training program spent the week gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, from working on a 2026 Tesla to diagnosing hybrid vehicles and learning the skills needed for the rapidly growing EV industry.  

Two ������Ƶ students are among this year’s recipients of Farm Credit East Scholarships, recognizing students pursuing careers in agriculture. ������Ƶ recipients are Megan Klossner, of Turin, an agricultural science bachelor’s degree student specializing in dairy management and Hailey Lincoln Williamson, of Chase Mills, who is majoring in agricultural science and agricultural business.  

������Ƶ has been added as a participating school in SUNY’s Reconnect initiative, which offers eligible adults a tuition-free pathway to associate degrees in high- demand fields.

Your Presidential Search Committee, with the assistance of our search consultants at WittKieffer, has been hard at work reviewing the applications we’ve received from across the United States. In total, our search consultants received more than 100 applications. The committee will soon meet with a small number of candidates for in-depth first round interviews, followed by the on-campus visits for the five that emerge from that process later in June.

������Ƶ graduate Thomas Knapp is helping build the technology behind one of the world’s most innovative aerospace companies. As a manufacturing engineer and tool-and-die machinist at SpaceX in Bastrop, Texas, Knapp produces precision components used in rockets, spacecraft and the company’s Starlink satellite network. While much of his work is confidential, Knapp is proud to contribute to innovations in space exploration and global connectivity.

From AI-powered repair documentation to EV safety training and classic cars, this year’s Automotive Training Fair at ������Ƶ is geared toward the future of the industry. The 36th annual Automotive Training Fair returns to ������Ƶ June 15–18, bringing four days of hands-on learning, emerging technology and industry updates for automotive educators and students.

When Jordan Scantlebury and Kedrin Connor crossed the commencement stage at ������Ƶ, it was one more milestone reached the same way they had reached so many others — together. Best friends since middle school, the two have navigated college side by side as classmates, roommates, workout partners and aspiring nurses, building a friendship that has become central to their journey.

Students in ������Ƶ’s auto body technology program unveiled the revamp of the college’s iconic Mustang drag car, bringing new life to a longtime symbol of the automotive program’s hands-on learning tradition.

������Ƶ graduates Harper Callard, of New Hartford, and Ethan Unthank, of Manhattan, have been recognized with the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence (CASE), the highest honor bestowed by the State University of New York (SUNY). The award honors students who demonstrate a strong combination of academic excellence integrated with leadership, campus involvement, athletics, community service, the arts, or career achievement.

������Ƶ President David Rogers will retire at the end of the academic year, concluding more than a decade of leadership marked by academic growth, expanded programs and campus transformation. Rogers, who became the college’s eighth president in 2015, oversaw the expansion of academic offerings, including new bachelor’s degrees and the college’s first master’s degree programs in food & agribusiness, and project management. 

Ben Scholl keeps a bag in his car packed with three different types of boots, extra sweatshirts and rain gear.   At any moment, the ������Ƶ environmental student might find himself in a canoe, trekking through wetlands or digging into the soil to better understand the world beneath his feet. His gear stays close at hand for a reason: in environmental science, learning extends beyond the classroom.

Two distinct ways of making an impact. Throughout the day, ������Ƶ’s Earth Day celebration brought those experience together, offering opportunities for the campus community to take part.

Inside a ������Ƶ welding lab, the hum of machinery blends with the soft hiss of TIG torches. Bright arcs of light flash behind protective shields as students learn a skill that will last a lifetime. During National Welding Month, the college is shining a light on welding as more than just a course requirement. It’s a hands-on experience that equips students with practical, versatile skills they can carry into a wide range of careers.

Before they even stepped into the national spotlight, ������Ƶ’s Dairy Judging Team had already set an ambitious goal: make it to Scotland to compete at one of the world’s premier agricultural shows. Following a standout season competing against the best collegiate teams in the country, their goal is now firmly in sight.

������Ƶ will celebrate Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, with a day of community service projects and activities that combine creativity and environmental awareness. The annual tradition offers students, faculty and staff an opportunity to give back through sustainability-focused acts of kindness while reinforcing the importance of protecting the environment.
