Why ÌÒ×ÓÊÓÆµ Ag Business?

Our agricultural business development B.B.A. program includes a strong agriculture- and business-based curriculum through coursework including economics, farm management and finance, marketing and retailing agricultural products, food & agribusiness and ag policy & development. You also have the flexibility to enroll in 53 elective credits related to your specific interests, including areas such as dairy, equine, horticulture, livestock, agronomy, marketing, management and agricultural human resources.  

You will gain immediate hands-on education in our unique facilities, including our newly renovated Dairy and Specialty Crops Incubator, Dairy Complex and Four Seasons Farm. Further direct applied learning experience is offered through a full-semester internship, which combines your skills and course learning through supervised fieldwork in a selected agriculture business or agriculture service organization.

You also can choose from related minors to further your knowledge, including our  and  minors.

Skills You Will Gain

Upon completion of the program, you will have the ability to:

  • Create and successfully operate your own agricultural enterprise
  • Make effective decisions relating to agricultural labor, finance and markets
  • Identify and successfully utilize market opportunities to improve profitability
  • Develop, manage and maintain effective interpersonal skills in a corporate and family business setting
  • Identify realistic goals for short- and long-term business planning to adapt to a constantly changing agribusiness environment

As a graduate of our program, your unique combination of skills and experience in production, marketing and management will set you on a track to owning or managing a wide range of agricultural businesses. Carrie Walston

Internship Student, Agricultural Business Development B.B.A
Carrie completed her final 15-week internship with Madison-Oneida BOCES in Verona, New York, as a teaching assistant for the equine and animal science program. In her position, Carrie worked with junior and senior high school students from local school districts. She assisted the main instructors with developing and implementing barn and classroom lesson plans and also assisted with grading and supervising lab activities. Carrie graduated with her bachelor’s degree in agricultural business development in December 2022. She plans to attend SUNY Oswego to pursue a master’s degree in agriculture education and continue her career in education.
