MORRISVILLE, NY—As Morrisville State College gears up to celebrate National Arbor Day on April 29, the college has been honored again for its trees. The college received 2015 Tree Campus USA® recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to effective urban forest management. 
MORRISVILLE, NY— Four days a week, Morrisville State College student Emily French augments her studies with a different kind of learning. Firing up a chainsaw, she cuts three cross-cut sections off of a log in the shortest amount of time.  Cutting through the five-inch piece of wood takes skill, precision and speed, which the Westport resident is honing as a member of the college’s wood sports team. 
MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will host the Mohawk Regional Dietetic Association spring meeting on April 15 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The meeting, titled “Rural Nutrition: Challenges and Strategies,” will include a keynote address by Rachel Kramer and Karen Romano of HealtheConnections, along with presentations from several area nutrition and healthcare experts. There will also be a panel discussion.
MORRISVILLE, NY— Prospective students from all over the northeast will descend on the Morrisville State College campus for an open house on April 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to see everything MSC has to offer, from our competitive NCAA Division III athletics to our state-of-the-art, hands-on learning facilities.  During the day, students can find out more about majors in academic sessions, learn about how to pay for college at a financial aid session, and get a guided tour of campus. 
MORRISVILLE, NY — Three Morrisville State College students recently participated in the New York State Model Senate Session Project, a dynamic leadership program for students interested in public service.  Participating were: Shanique Carmichael, a journalism student from Brooklyn; Melody Rodriguez, a health-related studies student from Syracuse; Darleny Brito, a criminal justice student from Manhattan; and Silvia Bliss, of Chittenango, assistant professor of liberal arts, the group’s advisor. 
MORRISVILLE, NY— The Morrisville State College University Police Department, in conjunction with the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, is holding a citizen preparedness seminar on April 27 from 6-8 p.m. in the Student Activities Center Little Theatre. The free training, which is open to the public, will focus on preparing for severe weather and man-made disaster events.
MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College has added former World Champion Third Straight p, 3, 1:53.3s, 3, 1:50.1f ($321,662) to its stallion roster. Third Straight is in the top 10 in Leading Sires Average Earnings per foal for 2015; among two-year olds he is 6th, and three-year olds he is 10th.
MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College adjunct instructor Rachelann Lopp Copland, of Cazenovia, has been selected as a panelist for the American Comparative Literature Association’s (ACLA) Annual Conference at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., March 17-20. 
MORRISVILLE, NY—The Morrisville State College Theater Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” in the Little Theatre of the Student Activities Building on March 24, 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., April 1 and 2 at 8 p.m., and April 3 at 2 p.m.
MORRISVILLE, NY— In celebration of National Developmental Disabilities Awareness month, Morrisville State College and The Arc of Madison Cortland are collaborating on an exhibit, “Through Our Eyes,” which is on display now through March 31 in the college’s Donald Butcher Library. The display highlights the work of photography students from The Arc of Madison Cortland, whose work was chosen by student jurors in MSC art instructor Leigh Yardley’s Introduction to Visual Arts class.
